It is with deep regret that we announce the death on January 18th of Professor Ryszard Wójcicki (October 30, 1931 – January 18, 2026), a world-renowned logician, methodologist, and philosopher of science. He was a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and chairman of the Committee on Philosophical Sciences. From the 1960s, he worked in the Department of Logic at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. For several decades, he served as its director. He authored numerous papers and books in the fields of logic, philosophy of science, and methodology. He also initiated and directed numerous research and publishing projects. For many years, he edited the journal “Studia Logica.” Professor Wójcicki was not only the first president of the Polish Association of Logic and Philosophy of Science after its reactivation in 1991, but also the originator and main organizer of that reactivation.
